FAMILY
FARE
Our
Family Fare Bin is our largest produce basket, filled with a sumptuous
selection of 14 to 16, ripe-for-the-season, fruits and vegetables. It
is ideal for a family of four, supplying a nutritionally-balanced selection
of items to prepare 3 to 4 cooked meals per week, as well as a selection
of fruit to fill the fruit bowl. Though there are staple items for use
in every day cooking, we do include other items to ensure variety week
to week. |
|
| Some
of the staple items you can expect on a regular basis are tomatoes,
lettuce, cooking onions, broccoli, carrots, potatoes and bananas.
We choose three other types of fruit for the Family Fare bin according
to the season. Crisp, crunchy, apples and tangy, sweet oranges are
quite common, with juicy selections of kiwis, grapefruit, berries,
pears, peaches, apricots, plums and occasionally some tropical choices
like mangos and melons.
Other
items that are rotated through the Family Fare Bin quite regularly
are cucumbers, green onions, garlic, zucchini, spinach, chard,
avocados, coloured bell peppers, and salad mix. We may also on
some occasions put in asparagus, cauliflower, celery, bok choy,
yams, cabbage, turnip, summer squash, eggplants, beets, corn (on
the cob), artichokes, beans, peas, radishes, collard, ginger,
winter squash, parsnips and kale, basil, parsley and other fresh
herbs, though these items are more seasonal, and much less frequent
(some only a few times per year).
